28 days

Well, it's been 1 month since my last post. Who knew getting a job would take up so much time! So, what's happened with Carmen in the last month. I started a temp job June 4th at a printing company in the SE; they print things like London Drugs, Canadian Tire, Safeway etc flyers n other stuff. My job is however, the Sales Assistant (read: secretary) and as I just finished 2 years of schooling in accounting, I quickly let them know this job was just not for me. So, I have been helping out the accounting dept, the payroll dept and pretty much whoever needs helping as it's pretty slow right now, regarding my regular duties. I have been offered a permanent job in either accounting or payroll, but I decided I'd really like to work downtown, or for J's co, so I am switching to payroll for the summer as of July 16 (that's where they need the most help) and hopefully something else wonderful and exciting opens up for me. And I must say, although not my dream job, the people are fantastic and I have learned tons of stuff in 3.5wks that I can take along with me.

The family reunion at the beginning of May was so great. Too short, of course, but hey. It was good to catch up with people I haven't seen in years and meet the new additions to the family.

What else happened? I cut all my hair off, as most of you 5 readers know it was at my belt and is now between my chin and
my shoulders with layers that hang in my way at work so I put them back with a paper clip, but look fantastic and lovely blond streaks that make my hair colour look so much more interesting. Currently I don't have the pics Megs took of the process, but when I get them, I'll post again.

The love of my life is good, working hard as usual. I convinced him to buy the most wonderful jacket, we (he) found it at an upscale consignment store May long weekend. It's this fantastic (obviously a favourite word of mine) orange colour...kinda pumpkin i guess, but a light pumpkin. Just suits him perfectly. However, when we found it it was $220 which for a second hand jacket seems a little pricey, and who's Cole Haan anyways? But, this past weekend his mom was in town and we went to the Sunfest in Inglewood, popped in to the store, and they were having a 50% off sale! So, we bought it. $110 is worth it.

The Sunfest was great, rained of course. First time having Vietnamese food, super good! got my blood typed, I'm an 0, but I don't know the positive/negative yet..gotta donate blood to find that out. Discovered this absolutely cramped tiny little antique/junk shop, that had a huge basement level just filled with old furniture and stuff. The kind of place where you feel like if you breathe you're gonna topple the stacks of dusty nicknack's over, the old guy just sits behind the counter and watches tv, you feel like you're interrupting if you ask a question, but you just know that you could describe what you want and he'd think a little, and say "bottom of the stairs, turn right, way at the back behind such n such". Such character, we'll have to go back for sure.

Last year J & I bought "Eat Right for your Blood Type", but as we didn't know what we were, we just started to try it out this week. So far it makes a lot of sense, I can relate the things they tell you about yourself ie how to reduce stress, to myself easily. I know, some people think it's just one more fad diet thing, but at this point, whatever I have to trick my mind into thinking to get my butt moving again...works for me! So, we'll try it and see.

Ok, well, I think that's enough of an update for now...

Plants, Life and Shopping

So, it's been awhile, sorry... Update: I have a temp job lined up to start next monday and a lead on a permanent job too. It's just nice to know that finally, I will start getting paychecks again. Other than the horrible snow incident last week, Calgary has been pretty nice, everything really green. Gotta take advantage as our "green season" seems to last for 6weeks before everything is brown again. But, not on our deck!! J and I went happy plant shopping the other day, and then he surprised me with even more yesterday! I love plants. Here's some really bad pics as all I have is a webcam...

So, the two on the left are in hanging pots, and the white one on the right was my Grandma's baking tin. There's lots more pots, but hey, a taste!

Then, yesterday, my friend Vantica and I went to the Lilac Festival downtown on 4th, had a BLAST! We saw Dan the One Man Band, a Capoeira demo and, amazingly enough, in the First Baptist Church a group of people playing songs on handbells! Ya, crazy, I know. But very cool, very cool. AND the best part being: new jewelry!

Errr, I mean, hanging with my friend...of course...

Ok, so, other than that, J's bro came for a visit, met some really cool new people, had a wickid BBQ, pub times, shopping, discovered Recordland in Inglewood, even went to a club! I know, unheard of! But, it was fun...

Shuffle Shuffle Shuffle

Had a great time with Jessegirl this past week, and I miss her already. We went shopping and walking and more walking, and to keep up the motivation when she went home I bought this very happy iPod Shuffle in a bright blue color. Isn't it tiny! I put a bobby pin next to it so you would know just how little it was.

Now, I need a job. Anyone? Anyone?

I love rock n roll, so put another dime in the jukebox baby

Well, it's been awhile since my last riveting post, I know you all have been waiting, holding your breath, "Will this be the day that she finally updates?" Well, you can let go.
Yay!! Only one more final exam to go --TAX-- and then it will be the very end of the last 2 very long, poor years as a student. I think I will miss it. Now, I just need a job so I can start to pay off the mountain of debt we seem to have incurred and maybe, just MAYBE, finally travel somewhere warm and happy. Of course, rather than studying for this very last test, I have been cleaning, dancing around the house sorting textbooks and deciding what I never want to look at again.
And then it will be friday, and jessegirl comes to visit for a whole WEEK. YAY!!!
My precious niece is going in for eye surgery this week, and for some reason NO ONE TOLD ME. I had to read it on someone else's blog, people. I knew about going to Van, just not the why. Anyways, I will be praying for her, and if you think to, please do as well. OK, I think it's finally time to drag out my 4inch thick tax textbook, many forms and schedules, study guide and past tests and practice practice practice. And I will leave you will this taunt: I'M GONNA BE AN AUNTIE, I'M GONNA BE AN AUNTIE!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Wow, the time for freaking out has arrived! I have a presentation today, 2 hard tests on Friday, 2 simply acct tasks to get done by Thursday, a research paper for bcpt due Monday and the 2nd half of the mgmt group project, also due Monday. Then, it's 1 week to review for finals, and THEN I have to get a JOB. Well really, I need to get a job NOW so i can start working as soon as finals are over. AHHHHHH.
Ok, the time for stressing may be here, but ---breathe--- we can do this. We are strong, amazing and talented, and we deserve wonderful things (not just me, WE).
OK, back to homework, and T, can i talk about it yet? Can I? Can I?

So bored, maybe someone should call me...

What fun, what fun. Photoshop has taken over my life. This is my precious niece who I cut out of a picture, posterized and added a textured layer. It's all my auntie L's fault, sending me the link to all her fun work that she's learned at her latest online course.

School is school. At a place where we can breathe for just a moment right now, not going to last, that's for sure. I'm listening to Rosie Thomas right now and it is peaceful and relaxing.

Well, I have no deep thoughts to share this evening. Missing my Jeremiah today, 5 more sleeps! Time for Wii time.

The Three Little Pigs

Three Little Pigs went out to dinner one night. The waiter came and took
their drink order. "I would like a Sprite," said the first little piggy.
"I would like a Coke," said the second little piggy. "I want beer, lots
and lots of beer," said the third little piggy.

The drinks were brought out and the waiter took their orders for dinner.
"I want a nice big steak," said the first piggy. "I would like the salad
plate," said the second piggy. "I want beer, lots and lots of beer,"
said the third little piggy. The meals were brought out and a while
later the waiter approached the table and asked if the piggies would
like any dessert.

"I want a banana split," said the first piggy. "I want a cheesecake,"
said the second piggy. "I want beer, lots and lots of beer," exclaimed
the third little piggy. "Pardon me for asking," said the waiter to the
third little piggy," But why have you only ordered beer all evening?"

You're gonna LOVE me for this.... The third piggy says - "Well, somebody
has to go 'Wee, wee, wee, all the way home!

The World's Shortest Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, a girl asked a guy, "Will you marry me?" The guy said
"No" and the girl lived happily ever after and went shopping, drank martinis,
always had a clean house, never had to cook, stayed skinny, and was never
farted on.

The end
