Oh yes I marvel at the wisdom of my God
I marvel at the wisdom of my God, when I see the little beans pushing up the heavy sod, I marvel at the wisdom of my God.

Superstitions
I think that superstitions were created by irritated moms. "If you open that umbrella one more time in the house, so help me!"

Gardens galore
My in laws, John and Anne came down for the long weekend and we took the opportunity of extra helping hands to get the flowers started this year. Jeremiah found this fantastic concept of the "Square Foot Garden" so he and his dad trotted off to Totem Building Supply, bought some wood n plastic n tarps n stuff and then met us over at Sunnyside Nursery. Must say, they did an amazing job, and now, along with all our flowers, we have a lovely 8' x 2' garden box on the end of our deck! It makes 16 squares and in each square foot is a different vegetable, with the opportunity to harvest certain things and then plant others in their place.
The start / mess
I got new glasses!
And here's the pic from the website, all the ones I took of me didn't turn out so hot...

LIVER & CHEESE
Three handsome male dogs are walking down the street when they see a
beautiful, enticing, female Poodle.
The three male dogs fall all over themselves in an effort to be the one
to reach her first, but end up arriving in front of her at the same time.
The males are speechless before her beauty, slobbering on themselves and
hoping for just a glance from her in return.
Aware of her charms and her obvious effect on the three suitors, she
decides to be kind and tells them, "The first one who can use the words
'liver' and 'cheese' together in an imaginative, intelligent sentence
can go out with me."
The sturdy, muscular black Lab speaks up quickly and says, "I love liver
and cheese."
"Oh, how childish," said the Poodle. "That shows no imagination or
intelligence whatsoever."
She turns to the tall, shiny Golden Retriever and says "How well can you
do?"
"Um. I HATE liver and cheese," blurts the Golden Retriever.
"My, my," said the Poodle. "I guess it's hopeless. That's just as dumb
as the Lab's sentence."
She then turns to the last of the three dogs and says, "How about you,
little guy?"
The last of the three, tiny in stature but big in fame and finesse, is
the Taco Bell Chihuahua.
He gives her a smile, a sly wink, turns to the Golden Retriever and the
Lab and says....
Liver alone. Cheese mine

Carmen and the New Job
Thursday morning, right after Mexico, I walk into my office, coffee and bagel in hand to be met with the sight of boxes. Yes, boxes in front of my bookshelf, boxes on my desk, boxes on my credenza, boxes on my floor. As I look a little closer, I notice some of those boxes are filled with my personal items - I see my lint roller, my blue coffee mug, my ruler. Then I look around again, and notice that all my pictures and my giant wall calendar have been taken down. So I turn to M, my co worker, and ask her "Um mm, did you fire me while I was away"? Very seriously she says "I think you should go talk to B". B is my boss, so I put down my coffee (vanilla nut, lots of cream) and my bagel and rush off to find him. He's happy to see me, acts like nothing's wrong, how was your trip etc. Then he walks me back to my office and I notice the note in one box that says "Looks like things didn't work out like we planned, hope you had a great trip, good luck in the future" yadda yadda. I'm feeling a little panicky at this point, I mean, part of me knows they love me and want to keep me, but the other part is always prepared for the let down. Of course, it was all a big joke, the brats. They even had our IT guy disable my log in info so I couldn't get into my computer. Wow. Good thing I have a great sense of humour :) He then proceeded to tell me that I should have an offer sheet by the end of the day for a permanent position. I love the people I work with. Really.
So now I'm officially not a temp, I have a real title: Accounting Assistant, and get a great wage with wonderful benefits. I suppose it's not really a new job but hey. This is my blog.

We made it back!
What a fantastic place for a relaxing, warm, sunny 2 weeks of happiness. I will put most of our pics up on Facebook, but here's a few.
The beach view
We had a great time, did lots of fun stuff and didn't burn too badly (me not at all and J just on his front side so I think that balances out). We woke up most mornings by 630 or 7, skipped the shower and headed right to the beach for a morning swim, then headed to breakfast. Most mornings were spent either on the beach (pretty good snorkeling right off where we were once I got passed the drowning part) or at a pool. The afternoons were pretty hot and we didn't want to burn so we headed back to our lovely air conditioned room for some TV (we don't get to channel surf at home so this was thrilling) and a nap. We woke in time for dinner, hung out at a lobby bar for a bit and as alcohol on the best days makes me sleepy let alone after a full day of sun and swimming and walking we crashed by about 9pm. Once though, we made up to 10pm, but just once. Which meant we missed out on the dancing as the disco didn't open until 11. Oh well, we will continue to dance in the kitchen.
The spa pool
The smaller pool we hung out at
We did some fun stuff too, and barely went over budget which was great. J had a massage on the first day and we both got pedicures on the first weekend. The spa was so serene we hung out there a lot. We went into Playa del Carmen just once, we found it pretty touristy and expensive. We did manage, after 2 cab rides and a walk, to find a bookstore that sold us a phrasebook that came in quite handy. Tulum was more our style and we went there at least 3 times. We hit the Tulum ruins ($2 colectivo (public bus that comes every 30 sec, they wait until it's full then leave) ride and $5 admission fee).
Tulum Ruins
There were very few bugs, one spider and fantastic towel art, so all in all, I would say a success.

Cave snorkeling and the skycycle were fantastic, one of our best days. We also went parasailing, spent a morning snorkeling at Xel Ha and took out the kayak and pedal boat. We tried to go on the catamaran but the first day it was too windy and the next few were completely calm.
